Rejuv-A-Horse is proud to announce its new role as a Premium Sponsor of Manes In Motion Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit therapeutic riding organization in Lexington, North Carolina as well as serving surrounding Davidson and Forsyth Counties! This partnership brings together two organizations dedicated to improving the lives of horses and the people who love them, with a shared appreciation for equine wellness, horsemanship, and the powerful connection between humans and horses.
At the heart of Manes In Motion is its therapeutic and adaptive horseback riding program, designed to improve the lives of individuals of all ages and abilities through the unique benefits of working with horses. Therapeutic riding is about much more than simply learning to ride. Through adapted instruction, specialized equipment, trained support, and activities tailored to individual abilities and goals, riders can work on balance, coordination, communication, confidence, independence, responsibility, and horsemanship skills while developing a meaningful relationship with their horse. For children facing physical, developmental, behavioral, emotional, cognitive, or social challenges, the experience can provide an opportunity to build skills and confidence in an environment that is active, engaging, and centered around the horse. Research continues to demonstrate the potential benefits of equine-assisted activities for children. A 2022 meta-analysis published in Pediatrics reviewed 26 studies involving equine-assisted therapies for children with cerebral palsy and found evidence of positive effects on gross motor function and motor capabilities related to walking. Research involving children with autism has also reported improvements in areas such as social communication, social awareness, social cognition, and social motivation following therapeutic horseback riding programs. These findings help demonstrate why therapeutic riding can be such a meaningful experience for children and families.
While therapeutic horseback riding remains the heart of Manes In Motion, the organization offers a variety of additional programs and opportunities for the community. Its offerings include From-The-Ground-Up, Silver Saddles, Stars & Stripes, traditional horseback riding lessons, internships and working-student opportunities, PATH Instructor Mentorship, volunteer opportunities, and horse boarding, creating ways for people of different ages, abilities, and experience levels to learn about horses and develop their horsemanship.
